You never know what kind of tinkering will occur on a Tinker Tuesday. When one of the students called home to ask permission to stay, he explained to his dad, "It's time to stay after school and play games and make things." Not a bad way to describe tinkering in the library. The next Tinker Tuesday is October 11.

Last weekend the Bandera Middle School Cross country teams competed in the Fredericksburg cross country meet. 8th A Bandera 19 21 Medina Valley 25 25 8th B Bandera 13 11 Medina Valley 25 25 7th A Bandera 20 17 Medina Valley 25 25 7th B Bandera 16 10 Medina Valley 25 25 As coaches at this level, for many first time young ladies playing the game; we focus on improvement and learning the game. There is a lot to learn about the game of volleyball and to throw it at them all at once is a lot to take in at this young age BUT I also know some people focus on the score and 'W'; which is what we are striving for and it will come. However, speaking for the coaches these young ladies are improving BIG time; learning; & most importantly having fun playing the game of Volleyball. Keep working hard young ladies, you all are doing a great job!! Next game is 9/26/16, Monday @ Kerrville. According to the Khan Academy, Bernoulli's Principle is the "inverse relationship between the pressure and speed at a point in a fluid....At points along a horizontal streamline, higher pressure regions have lower fluid speed and lower pressure regions have higher fluid speed." Ms. Allison's STEM students explored Bernoulli's principle in class using every day objects like soda cans, balloons, balls, and even Cheetos!
BMS students got to celebrate a double whammy today: Dot Day and Power Up at the BMS Library. Students explored straw construction, lego construction, snap circuits, Little Bits circuits, gravity mazes, Pivot StickFigure stop motion animation, and code.org along with painting, crafting, and good 'ole reading. Best student quote of the day on attempting circuitry for the first time: "We can learn together. I have no clue what I"m doing" (CM).
This year's first Tinker Tuesday was great fun. After a short introduction to code.org, students enjoyed a snack (thank you, Mrs. Whitefield) and pursued personal projects including making a Makey Makey Pac Man controller, making a digital keyboard with play dough, assembling a digital speaker using snap circuits, sewing a pillow, creating music in MixCraft, creating art through computer code, and building a structure out of straws. Ms. Bagwell joined in the fun and tinkered with the LittleBits circuits. We had a blast! The next Tinker Tuesday is September 27.
