BMS is the recipient of a $500 grant thanks to Mini Mart #2 at 377 HWY 16. Mini Mart nominated Bandera Middle School for the Exxon Mobile Educational Alliance grant to boost studies in math and science. A great big Bulldog thank you to Mini Mart, Mrs. Fritz, and Exxon for their support of BMS students.
Ms. Allison's STEM class is using SketchUp to design 3D prototypes of things they would need to colonize Mars. Thanks to a generous grant by the BISD Education Foundation, BISD students will have access to a mobile math lab this summer. The math lab will run in conjunction with the Bulldog Mobile. Stay tuned for more details. Congratulations, Mrs. Derry, Mrs. Mazurek (BHS), Ms. Mangold (Alkek), and Mrs. Edwards (Hill Country). Seventh grade students in Mrs. Derry's and Ms. Allison's math classes saw first hand last week how math really is important in the real world! Two DPS troopers shared a presentation with the students explaining how they use math to analyze traffic accidents. Then the students got to experience first-hand measuring skid marks and making calculations to determine a vehicle's speed.
Mrs. Bane's and Mrs. Kromer's sixth grade mathematicians worked hard to earn 500,000 points completing Think Through Math lessons, and their hard work paid off! Not only did they hone their math skills, but they also earned $50 toward a classroom party sponsored by WalMart. Congratulations!
