Our newest BMS Bulldogs showed their creativity and problem solving skills this week in PAWS Camp, a three-day orientation to middle school. Thanks Coach Mohler, Mrs. McCullough, and Mrs. Irvin for getting our students off to a great start!
Thanks to a generous grant from the BISD Education Foundation, BMS students can explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math #InTheLibrary.
Some opportunities for exploration include coding, stop-motion animation, circuitry, origami, knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrapbooking, duct tape design, making music, digital animation, and 3D design. There are three ways to participate. 1. Each week, students can sign up to borrow kits to use before school, during advisory, and during lunch. Just complete the form on the BMS library website to reserve your spot. (BISD Google login required to complete form.) 2. If students have an extended project, they can reserve a study room in the library for 5 days to work on their project. Check the MakerSpace calendar for room availability, and complete the form to reserve your spot. 3. Some projects just need a little extra time. Sign up to stay after school from 3:30-5:00 for Tinker Tuesday's. See library website for dates. Activity bus passes available. Students must select a project to work on prior to that week's session. See Mrs. Groff for project ideas and materials availability. Meet the Teacher NightBMS students and parents geared up for a great school year at a well-attended Meet the Teacher Night last Thursday. Thanks to all who attended. Students who did not pick up registration packets last week will bring them home today. First Day of SchoolA great big thank you to our cheerleaders who greeted students with smiles this morning. Parents and students, don't forget to return registration packets this week. Registrations packets are returned to advisory teachers. Athletic forms are returned to coaching staff.
Ms. Kromer and Mrs. Groff have been busy getting the library ready for an awesome school year. We've got a bunch of new books just waiting to be checked out. And Mrs. Groff is looking for some students to help her build a terrarium in the next week or two. (Ssshhh...there might be a new critter comin' soon to the library!).
Speaking of critters, we'll vote for a name for our library fish before school on August 28. Put in your suggestion, and then stop by before school on Friday to cast your vote. Keep an eye on the library website and listen for announcements to keep up with our library AWESOMENESS.You'll have an opportunity to explore circuitry, 3D design and printing, coding, crafts, stop-motion animation, and cartooning during library programming this year. Some programs will have only a limited number of students, so make sure you listen to announcements and sign up early. |
