6th Grade Bolt For The Blue Healthy Living Class showed up in force at the Randolph Air Force base 5K run on April 18th to completely dominate the event. The students trained all school year with Coach Price and Coach Spiegleman. Out of the 59 students enrolled in the class, 20 students ran, some accompanied by parents and siblings. One student shaved 8 minutes off his mile over the course of the year! Congratulations to all who participated in Bolt For the Blue for their hard work and dedication to achieving personal and team goals.
A group of 8th grade students found a cool project for our Raspberry Pi. They are building a smart target that will measure PSI of a projectile. The project will require an array of skills. Today, they learned to solder wires. #LearnCreateExplore Ms. Bagwell's and Mrs. Lonsberry's students spent Wednesday and Thursday in the library sampling a delicious menu of eighteen books related to World War II. At the FFA banquet this month, new officers were installed. The officers for the 2015-2016 school year are as follows:

Meghan Mangold, Mattie Morrison, Kenley Hinton, Jake Montague, and Jessi Wyatt received their discovery pins. Meghan Mangold was received the Discovery award. Congratulations, FFA members. Thanks to a generous grant by the BISD Education Foundation, BISD students will have access to a mobile math lab this summer. The math lab will run in conjunction with the Bulldog Mobile. Sixth grade students attended the annual Ag Day educational excursion at Mansfield Park today. What a great learning opportunity hosted by our very own Bandera community. Ms. Bagwell's Study Skills class went old school last week when they hand designed board games covering skills like making good grades, making friends, and excelling at AR. Thanks to a generous grant from the Bandera ISD Education Foundation, Mr. Edwards will be able to purchase EV3 Lego Robots for the First Lego League competition. Bring on the competition! Thanks to a generous grant from the BISD Education Foundation, BMS students are going to have access to some awesome Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math tools. We can't wait to place our order for snap circuits, Little Bits circuits, Lego kits for stop motion animation, a Swivl robotic platform for video production, Knex kits, a gravity maze, and craft supplies. The materials will be available for use in the library before, during, and after school, and at Tech Time. Learn! Wonder! Create! |
