Bandera High School National Honor Society and BMS National Junior Honor Society collaborated to collect donations to support Rockport school libraries damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
BHS raised $629.50 and BMS raised $824.52 for a grand total of $1454.02 A great big thank you to Mrs. Frye and Mrs. Koenig and their organizations and our Bulldog Nation. #TexasStrong Mrs. Mitchell's class studied Columbus's voyage, a map of the New World, and a model of a boat made by Mrs. McKeown's husband.
The Bandera Middle School Band had a very successful weekend at the All-Region Band Competition this weekend.
3 students were named alternates for the All-Region Band Sidney Timmons on Flute Mackenzie Hanks on Alto Saxophone and Joshua Staples on Baritone Saxophone These students earned membership into the All-Region Concert Band Kylee Henderson on Bass Clarinet Matthew Staton on Trombone and Lindsey Bostain on French Horn These students earned membership into the All-Region Symphonic Band Band Rebekah Dutton on Clarinet Jordan Green on Clarinet Cade Koenig on Alto Saxophone Abby Houser on Trumpet Alex Mills on Tuba Duggan Persyn on Percussion and Kendall Gatzka on Percussion Bandera Middle School had more students make 1st chair than any other school in the region. These students had the distinct honor of being named the number 1 player on their instrument for the entire region. Paige Rayle on Clarinet Max Goldsmith on Trumpet Hailey Francis on French Horn and Jack Pate on Tuba. A joint BMS and BHS fundraiser this week collected donations for coastal libraries damaged or lost to Hurricane Harvey. Sponsored by the NJHS and NHS, students who donated to the cause could wear costumes to school on Halloween. BMS raised over $700 on Tuesday, but they're not done fundraising yet! With a goal of a $1000 donation, BMS administration is allowing #HatsForHarvey day on Friday. A $1 donation will allow students to wear their favorite hats all day long.
