8th grade students in Ms. Bagwell's and Mrs. Lonsberry's classes participated in a two-day book tasting in the library this week. In addition to sampling a selection of books that explore the themes of courage in the face of persecution, man's inhumanity to man, and resilience and perseverance, the students made connections to a picture book allegory of the Holocaust and videos related to conflicts in Bosnia, Rwanda, and other parts of the world.
Mrs. Lonsberry's and Ms. Bagwell's 8th grade ELA classes participated in a museum experience in the BMS library. Thanks to a travelling trunk from Gettysburg National Park, the students were able to explore the life of a Civil War Soldier through clothing, past times, music, photographs, and the words of Civil War heroes.
ELAR 8 students crafted diary entries through the eyes of characters in historical fiction using real feather quills and ink.
