Two sixth graders used their awesome imagination and design skills to make game pieces for an ELA project. Look at how they used SketchUp to turn a pencil sketch into a three-dimensional reality.
Students at Hill Country Elementary got a surprise visit from the BMS Bulldog and one of our awesome cheerleaders to promote summer learning in BISD. Check out the Summer Learning page on the BISD website. Thanks to a generous grant from the BISD Education Foundation, students have access to lots of new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) materials in the library. Boxes from Amazon have been arriving all week. Stop by to check out circuitry kits, Lego kits for stop motion animation, K'Nex roller coaster kits, a gravity maze, and lots more. Ms. Rekemeyer's students completed a fun research project to find interesting facts about their chosen presidents. Recycled materials made the project environmentally friendly, too! Leave it to Ms. Smallwood to organize a celebration of National Dance Like a Chicken Day. Students moved through the hallways listening to the iconic dance tune & Coach Lenz's 7th period held an impromptu performance in the library. Great day! Thanks to a generous gift to BMS from the Student Council, our campus has twenty new trees purchased from the Medina Garden Nursery. Morgen Ayers from the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District selected four native species of trees to plant and spoke to students about the importance of planting native species. Over twenty students braved drizzle and mud to plant the first four trees today. The remainder of the trees will be planted over the next two weeks.
An 8th grader walked into the library last week and Mrs. Groff told her that her picture was on the BMS blog. The student responded, "I didn't know we had a blog." (Tears!)
So.....Mrs. Groff is hosting a contest this week to make sure that ALL BMS students have the opportunity to visit our school blog where we showcase our Bulldog awesomeness! Log into your BISD Google account and complete this survey. You may want to keep this tab open so you can toggle back and forth between the survey and this page. Look carefully. There are clues on the shelves that reveal the owner! All the pictures are posted on the library bulletin board, too. Next week Mrs. Groff will have goodies for the BMS students/teachers who correctly match the most selfies & shelfies. Stop by the library webpage each week and check out the new blog posts. You might just see YOUR picture! The BMS choirs went to San Antonio this past weekend to compete in the Kidz in the Park contest. The men's choir and concert choir earned superior ratings. GREAT JOB CHOIRS!!!! |
