Bandera Middle School kicked off its Hour of Code celebration Tuesday when Mr. Edwards' 7th grade classes experimented with JavaScript on the Hour of Code website by building a Star Wars game, moving Minecraft characters, and helping Elsa make snowflakes in Frozen. If the block of code (a combination of letters, numbers, and punctuation marks) was not correct, the action on the screen wasn't correct either.
Students had a great day determining if they have an affinity for computer language, which, in turn, will help them determine which endorsement to pursue when they register for their high school classes.
To top off the day, 2008 BHS graduate Michael Groff, who works for Rackspace in San Antonio, spoke to Mr. Terrill's technology class about careers in technology and worked with students during our after school Tinker Tuesday program.
The BMS Hour of Code celebration will continue with the STEM classes on Thursday, the 8th grade on Friday, and the 6th grade on Monday.
