On Saturday members of the choir program went to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio. For many students, this was the first time seeing a major production. What a great experience!
The culmination of the BMS Library Teen Read Week celebration was a putt putt golf game in the library for the 8th grade. Students in Mrs. Elrod's and Ms. Kepp's classes used recycled materials and tons of creativity to contribute to the course. A great big thank you to Kelly Orion of the Mayan Ranch for lending three pre-made golf holes. The BMS Library is looking forward to course expansion and more fun for Teen Read Week 2016! BMS Choir took fifteen students to San Antonio to audition for the Honor Choir.. One BMS student made the intermediate choir in the alto section. A total of 600 students competed for nearly 180 positions in the Honor Choir. The BMS choirs went to San Antonio this past weekend to compete in the Kidz in the Park contest. The men's choir and concert choir earned superior ratings. GREAT JOB CHOIRS!!!!
Seventeen students from Bandera Middle School auditioned for region band this past weekend. Three students were selected to be part of the region bands.
Samantha Rubalcava - Clarinet Cyrus Bourg - Alto Saxophone Scott Love - Trumpet Samantha qualified to be in the Symphonic Band, placing 12th out of a room of 70 clarinets, and 4th among all 7th graders in the region! Cyrus and Scott both earned a position in the Concert band, each competing in a room of over 50 other players! Davis McMullen, Carina Groenwald and Dalton Cox were all very close to earning a position, each of them being within 2 or 3 of making it to the band. Please congratulate all of these students for their hard work! Our middle school choir performed Christmas carols on Fox 29 in December. Check out their awesome performance.
"Jingle Tree Medley" "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" On Saturday, December 6th, Bandera Middle School One Act Play competed in the District 29-4A One Act Play competition. One of our students received the Best Tech award, while another was awarded Honorary All Star Cast. Two students received All Star Cast, and one student was chosen as the Best Actress. BMS won first place for District 29-4A. Congratulations, Mrs. Spikes and the One Act Play cast and crew!
The Bandera Middle School band was awarded a $1,000 grant from the Texas Music Educators Association to buy all new music for our library. Here are members of the Bandera Middle School Concert Band with the new music that just arrived. Let the playing begin!
