In preparation for building their own manufacturing transport systems, Ms. Moseley's 6th grade PAP science classes conferenced via Skype with BISD 2006 graduate and NASA engineer, Cody Kelly. Mr. Kelly shared not only information about his work on crew survival equipment designed for missions to asteroids, but also current equipment and missions. The students were excited to see the gloves and helmet worn by astronauts; Mr. Kelly even put on the helmet at the request of a student. Ms. Moseley’s students were excited to be able to talk to someone from their home town who was following his dreams of working in space exploration at NASA. Mr. Kelly spoke about projects at BMS that helped inspire him; could this year’s engineering project inspire the next architect or engineer? |
