Ms. Allison's STEM students have been working hard designing products to solve real-life problems. They worked with their teams to conduct research, formulate a production and marketing plan, and pitch their plan to potential investors.
8th grade science students investigated chemical reactions by combining steel wool, hydrogen peroxide and bleach to form rust on the steel wool. Students also noted that during the reaction when they ran out of the hydrogen peroxide the reaction would stop.
Bandera Middle School students will be some of the tens of millions of students in 180+ countries celebrating the Hour of Code in December. The Hour of Code celebration provides an introduction to computer science by allowing users to move blocks of code to make awesome things happen on the computer screen. The BMS choir program has been collecting items to send to U.S. military troops serving over seas. Choir students wrote to professional sports teams to obtain items for the boxes, as well. Many teams sent items, and some teams even sent personal notes back to the students who wrote the team. There will be a DVD of the choirs singing different Christmas songs as well a few messages to the troops. The choir hope that the packages will provide a little bit of "home" to our troops as they as serving our country.
Mrs. Desmuke and members of the BMS Builders Club placed American flags on veterans graves at the Bandera Cemetery. Advisory classes wrote thank you notes to veterans, and the notes will be distributed to veterans at the hospital in Kerrville.
On Saturday members of the choir program went to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio. For many students, this was the first time seeing a major production. What a great experience!
