To celebrate Teen Read Week, twenty-eight BMS students visited with Mr. Mark Alpert, author of a science fiction trilogy consisting of The Six, The Siege, and The Silence.
Mr. Alpert, a journalist and contributing editor at Scientific American, shared his process for moving his initial idea into three action-packed books involving six terminally ill teenagers who trade their bodies for machines to battle an artificial intelligence program. He encouraged students to read widely and to read a lot, to be persistent in pursuing their passions, and to be disciplined in their approach to attaining their goals. BMS sends a big Bulldog thank you to Mr. Alpert and his publisher, Sourcebooks, for the virtual visit. |
