Bandera Middle School teacher Michael Lenz took his Environmental Science class on a trip to observe the BHS Greenhouse where Career and Technology agriculture students have set up an aquaculture lab. The lab grows plants using the circulated water from tanks where fish are raised. This demonstration system shows that not only protein but vegetable food sources can be raised in a controlled environment. February is Career and Technology Month.
This weekend was a great weekend for the Bandera Middle School Band! Eighteen students traveled to Peasall Junior High to audition for the ATSSB Region 11 All-Region Band on Saturday. In this contest, students compete against students from other schools who play their instrument.
Mr. Elrod is proud to say that Bandera Middle School had eight students qualify for the region band! That is more than double the number of students to make the region band last year (3). BMS had more people make the region band this year than auditioned for the region band two years ago. Making the all region concert band were.... Christian McKnelly on Flute (6th Chair, 14th overall) Beth Smith on Flute (10th Chair, 18th overall) Elaina Puckett on Alto Saxophone (4th Chair, 8th overall) Alexa Vara on Tenor Saxophone (1st Chair, 3rd overall) Emma Mydland on Trumpet (12th Chair, 22nd overall) These three students had the honor of making the All Region Symphonic Band... Esau Amaya on Trombone (4th Chair, 4th overall) Layden Hogue on Euphonium (4th Chair, 4th overall) Samantha Rubalacava on Clarinet (2nd Chair, 2nd overall....out of 70 clarinet players!) Congratulations, BMS Band! A great big thank you to the thirty eight students who participated in our annual BMS Book Blind Date. Mrs. Kromer worked hard to match you with a book that's perfect for you.
